Earth is a most wonderful building material. As a pure natural material it is non toxic.
They say an earthen home breaths and in a sense this is true, earthen walls both absorb and release water vapor and air creating a natural form of air conditioning that is near impossible to recreate with an air conditioner.
When a large mass of earth is used in a wall, it also works to regulate the temperature inside a home. Keeping it cool in summer and holding onto heat in winter.
As a geometric shape, the sphere has the smallest surface area for its equivalent volume. A dome can use the minimum amount of materials to construct a large living space.
In a dome the ceiling and the walls are unified into one structure further saving on building materials and optimizing build time.
Round Space
Round living spaces are different, without any straight walls, they naturally lend themselves to a more organic design.
We use a five sided symmetry to orient ourselves. This is how we lay out how our doors and windows, as well as how other dome sections connect with each other.
